Welcome to Union Church (United Church of Christ)

Welcome to the website of Union Church (United Church of Christ) in Tekonsha. We invite you to look around and get a feel for our church. If you're not currently a member of our church, we'd would be honored to become your spiritual home. Feel free to get in touch with Pastor Jen and get started!

In-person worship to restart Nov. 1.

As we begin to gather for in-person worship again, please observe the following safety guidelines:

1. Stay home if you are not feeling well, or if you have had in-person contact in the last 14 days with someone who has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

2.  Wear a face-mask that covers your mouth and nose.  If you do not have your own, one will be provided to you.

3. We will be practicing physical distancing of 6 feet between people of different households.

4. We will refrain from physical greetings, such as handshakes and hugs.

5. Practice good personal hygiene, such as proper handwashing and use of hand sanitizer.

6. Paper bulletins will be available at the church.  We will also be posting the order of worship on the Union Church website (www.unionchurchtekonsha.net) and Facebook group, if you would prefer to download it to your personal electronic device.

We understand that some may choose not to attend worship at this time due to medical or health concerns.  If you cannot join us in person, please note:

·       We will continue to post recordings of the service on the church website and on Facebook.

·       Offerings can be sent to the church by mail or on the church website.

·       We are also continuing our online Bible Study; please send a message to Pastor Jen from the Facebook group or at pastor@unionchurchtekonsha.net for more information

Please note that our worship practices will continue to conform with state and local guidelines for in-person gatherings.

Candles available for All-Saints Day (Nov. 1)

Since many of us will be celebrating All-Saints Day at home, one of the ways we can celebrate is by lighting a candle in remembrance of those who have died.  Susan Jones has spotted white pillar candles encased in glass at the Dollar General that would be perfect for this purpose (and are even great for decorating!).  Pastor Jen has three such candles at her home that you would be welcome to come and pick up; Susan has also volunteered that she will happily pick up and deliver candles to anyone who wants one.  Susan can be reached at 517-227-9348.  Please have all orders in by October 25.

Drive-thru Trick-or-Treating at Girard UMC

Union Church will be participating with Girard UMC and other organizations for a Drive-thru Trick-or-Treating at Girard UMC on October 30th from 5pm-7pm.  If you would like to donate candy for this event, please drop it off either at Pastor Jen's house or with Susan Jones at the school.

Church Office closed until October 30th.

The Union Church office will be closed until at least October 30th.  If you need any assistance, please contact Pastor Jen directly at 616-570-2392.

CROP Walk to be held virtually during the month of October.

This year’s annual CROP HUNGER WALK will take place VIRTUALLY during the month of October, 2020.  Due to the current restrictions regarding events, Union City's  First Congregational UCC  and Tekonsha's Union Church UCC are coordinating the 2020 walk through their church offices.

Anyone interested in walking a one or three mile route of your choosing is invited to participate.  Annual CROP HUNGER WALK proceeds benefit Church World Services (CWS) activities in countries around the world, provide disaster relief in areas of the United States, and fund local food pantries in participating communities.  In Tekonsha, our All-Church Emergency Fund has been the recipient of funds raised in this annual event, and Tekonsha shares 25% of the total walk proceeds with the community food bank of Union City.

Anyone interested in obtaining a sponsor sheet (or in sponsoring a walker) to raise funds for this worthy cause may contact Deb Goheen at the number shown below. Please plan to return your envelope and collected donations to any of the above contacts by October 30th.

If you have additional questions regarding the CROPWALK event, please contact Deb Goheen at 517-677-9844 or via email at goheenfmly@charter.net
